A Great Marsh Estate Wedding

When Matthew, a detective, injured his hand in 2013, he met a woman at the front desk of the hand therapy clinic. That woman was Chanele, and the two began a relationship and fell in love. Matthew proposed to Chanele on a snow shoeing trip in Glacier National Park in Montana, and she was so surprised and of course she said yes!

The two began planning their dream wedding at the Great Marsh Estate in Virginia. They wanted a classic, elegant feel to their wedding and selected decor in romantic petal and blush pinks, white, and green. The couple says that their favorite part of planning their wedding day was all the tastings they got to do!

It was so important to them to infuse as many special details about themselves and their relationship into their wedding to make the day truly feel like theirs. Their seating chart was inspired by Matthew’s proposal on the snow shoeing trip, and they used ski lift tags for their guests. Rather than doing a first look, the bride and groom shared a “first touch” where they reached around a corner and held hands without seeing each other, and read letters that they had written each other. It was such a tender and heartfelt moment. Chanele even surprised Matthew with a vintage Batman car! He was so surprised and I’m so glad I got to catch his reaction, because it was priceless!

After the ceremony was over, the couple let loose on the dance floor with their guests. The party was really going full force! Their family and friends had some serious moves on that dance floor! The evening ended with a magical sparkler send-off. I loved capturing Chanele and Matthew’s love story, and I hope you enjoy my favorite images!
