An Elegant Ballroom Wedding at Southern Exchange Ballrooms in Atlanta, Georgia

The Proposal

Nick and Marian are huge University of Georgia football fans, and every year they travel to Jacksonville, Florida for the Georgia/Florida game. For the 2019 game, they met up with their families at Saint Simons Island, Georgia to spend the weekend with them and attend the game. Only this time, Marian was in for the surprise of her life! After a gourmet dinner at the King and Prince restaurant on St. Simons Island with their families, Nick took Marian outside at night under the stars and string lights, got down on one knee, and asked her to be his wife! Marian jokes that Nick says she said “Yes!” before he even pulled the ring out!

A Southern Exchange Ballrooms Wedding

After getting engaged (and rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs at the football game), Marian and Nick got to work planning their wedding. Marian says that her favorite part of planning her wedding at the Southern Exchange Ballrooms was “knowing it is the start of my FOREVER with my soulmate and answered prayer.”

Laura Wright with Soiree South & Co. worked with the couple to plan an elegant, elaborate ceremony and reception that showed off the grandness of the ballroom. Allison with Bantam and Bloom worked her magic to fill the space with beautiful florals in shades of pink, champagne, ivory, and eucalyptus. The bridesmaids wowed in black one-shoulder Vera Wang dresses, and the gentlemen looked dapper in black tuxes and pink ties from Men’s Wearhouse.

The bride’s second cousin, Charli Ann Joseph, only 14 years old, was the cake artist. Previously, Marian had nominated her for Today with Hoda and Jenna and she was featured on their show for her incredible baking talents!

After spending the morning getting ready separately in their hotel rooms with their wedding parties, the bride and groom shared a first touch rather than a first look before their ceremony. As soon as he saw Marian coming down the aisle, Nick began to wipe away tears. Soon the entire wedding party was crying too! After an emotional ceremony, this fun couple and their wedding party let loose on the dance floor! It was an amazing celebration, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it!
