Intimate Winter Wedding at La Vie in Washington D.C.

Joanna and Garrett’s DC Wedding

At the beginning of this year, I had the extreme honor of capturing Joanna and Garrett’s intimate wedding day at La Vie in Washington, DC. Although I love the big weddings I get to be a part of on the regular, there’s something very special about an intimate day like this one. I was one of less than 20 people who got to be a part of Joanna and Garrett’s special day. These two chose to get married and have their reception at La Vie, this gorgeous waterfront DC restaurant. Personally I think it was a perfect choice!!

Joanna and Garrett chose to get ready at the Ritz Carlton in Arlington before their wedding day. With the help of their family, and Garrett’s son Joe, the day truly began on the right foot! After capturing their sweet details and those classic getting ready portraits, the two opted to do a first look. It was so sweet to watch Garrett see his bride for the first time!! After their first look, we headed to the monuments for Joanna and Garrett’s portraits. Joanna’s winter bridal look was stunning against the monuments and made for some truly beautiful portraits.

Then it was time for their ceremony! La Vie was the perfect spot for their emotional ceremony – and reception. Before we started their reception, we stole away for a few more portraits within the restaurant. There were some really cute spots to use for a few cozy wedding portraits to celebrate the newlyweds. Also can we talk about using that saber to cut the cake?! How fun is that?!!? Joanna and Garrett, thank you so much for allowing me to be with you on your special, intimate day. It was a beautiful wedding and I am so excited for your family!
